DEGENERATE
DRAFT
Every league needs a designated degenerate

The mark is a designated driver badge that means the opposite, and it strikes like a neon tube rather than fading in. Your league lives wherever it already lives; this is the party the draft happens at.

Color

Midnight track, two rooms

Midnight Track is a racing form under floodlights: deep indigo, safety orange on the clock, electric cyan on anything valuable. Daylight is the same form printed. Token names describe the job, not the hex, so every component works in both without a conditional. Hit the toggle above and watch this page follow.

--felt
The room. Page ground.
--rule
Hairlines and dividers.
--paper
Ticket stock. Anything committed.
--ink
Thermal print. Text on paper.
--stamp
Urgency. On the clock, last fifteen seconds.
--win
Value. Steals, keepers, money.
--chalk
Primary text on the ground.
--chalk-dim
Secondary text on the ground.
Safety orange and electric cyan never do each other's job. Orange is only ever “now or never”. Cyan is only ever value. If either shows up twice on one screen, one of them is wrong.
Type

Three faces, three jobs

Every sports product reaches for a condensed gothic. This one goes expanded, because jersey numerals are wide and blocky, and going wide where the category goes narrow is the most visible decision in the system.

Everything committed is a ticket

The serial is the pick number. 4.07 is round four, pick seven, sitting exactly where a ticket carries its serial. Zero border radius, because paper has square corners, and that one constraint does more anti-generic work than any other rule here.

Stamps · always rotated, never straight
On the clockStealTradedVoid

Two to four degrees, derived from the pick number so a stamp never reshuffles on re-render. A perfectly aligned stamp is the tell that a machine placed it.

Motion

Picks print

The board cuts to full screen and the ticket prints: paper feeds up, ink resolves line by line, the stamp lands with a small overshoot. One sound, on the stamp only. Everywhere else there is no animation beyond a 120ms hover, and that restraint is what makes this land.

Icons

Actions only

No icon that does not represent an action or a state the draft room actually has. Two pixel strokes, butt caps, miter joins: rounded caps are the single most common tell of a stock icon set, and this system has square corners everywhere else. No emoji, ever.

Voice

Flat, plain, deadpan

The league name is already the joke. The interface does not need to be funny. It is the sportsbook: it does not care how you feel about the line.

TERP owns the 4.07. You traded it March 2.

No trades on the table. Somebody start something.

An action keeps its name through the flow: the button that says Make pick produces Pick made. Errors name the problem and the fix, never “Invalid pick”. Never exclaim, never congratulate. The stamp does that work.
